Over time, facial tissues begin to lose elasticity and to experience volume loss, causing the skin to droop. The areas under the eyes, around the cheeks, and along the jawline may also start to become sharp and sunken. The pleasant oval of youth is replaced by more of a square. These changes make the face appear tired and unhealthy. Thankfully, a simple visit to Surgical Arts of Virginia & Ageless Innovations Medical Spa in Fredericksburg can turn these unsightly signs of aging into a refreshed, youthful appearance.
What is Radiesse?
The best way to erase lines and folds is to restore lost structure with added volume. Radiesse is FDA-approved to safely and effectively correct wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth. It even stimulates collagen production. Radiesse is injected into the skin through a simple, safe, and minimally-invasive procedure.
Benefits of Radiesse
Radiesse is calcium hydroxyapatite, rather than hyaluronic acid (found in most other fillers, like Restylane). Many patients choose Radiesse over other fillers because the results can last up to two years. It is also a great option for those who have experienced allergic reactions from other cosmetic treatments.
The benefits of Radiesse include:
- Stimulates natural collagen production
- Volume replacement, especially in the cheeks and around the mouth
- Improvement of nasolabial folds
- Fast & convenient treatment time
- Longer lasting results
- Reduced risk of allergic reaction
Is Radiesse Right for Me?
Good candidates for Radiesse:
- Should be in good overall health
- Should have realistic expectations regarding the results
- Understand that the longevity of results is influenced by lifestyle, skin type, age, muscle activity in the treatment area and their body’s rate of collagen production
How is Radiesse Performed?
Dr. Palmer performs dermal filler and volume replacement procedures. He will start by performing a detailed skin analysis during consultation. Most patients experience their treatment the same day of their consultation.
A local anesthetic and antiseptic is applied to the area prior to the injections. Radiesse is injected as an in-office procedure that usually takes about 15 minutes.
You will likely notice improvement in the appearance of your skin immediately. Results will continue to improve as the body begins to produce more collagen.
Following treatment, you may experience redness and swelling in the injection sites that should subside within 48 hours. Avoid strenuous exercises for 24 to 48 hours after your treatment, though no downtime is necessary following your treatment.
