What Are the Benefits of Fat Transfer Body Contouring?

Fat grafting provides a variety of benefits for patients, including:

  • Fat from your own body is used.
  • Dramatic results.
  • Fat transfer results are natural, long-lasting, and safe.
  • Cells associated with fat help to rejuvenate overlying skin.
  • Using your own fat allows for large volume enhancement not practical with other fillers.
  • Intradermal fat grafting can help get rid of wrinkles and scars.
  • Easy add-on to liposuction procedures

Is Fat Grafting Body Contouring Right for Me?

People choose fat grafting to the breasts if they want enlargement, but do not want implants. If you want rounding of the hips and/or projection to the buttocks, then fat grafting is an excellent choice.

If you are in generally good health, do not smoke, and have volume loss of the face or hands, then fat grafting may be a good choice. It is very important that all nicotine products are given up at least two weeks prior to the procedure and for several weeks afterward. If you are diabetic, your sugar should be well controlled and less fat “take” should be expected.

How is Fat Transfer Body Contouring Performed?

The goal of Dr. Palmer and his staff is to help you achieve the most appealing and natural-looking results, while making your surgical experience as easy and as comfortable as possible.

Dr. Palmer performs fat grafting under IV sedation with local anesthesia in the office’s surgical suite. He will harvest fat with a special liposuction cannula from a site predetermined with the patient. This fat will be processed and then injected into the area to be re-volumized.  For larger areas like the breasts and buttocks, the fat is processed with decanting before injection.

What is Fat Grafting Body Contouring Recovery Like?

After surgery, you will receive instructions regarding your post-surgical care. Most patients take one or two weeks off from work to recover. Patients can expect swelling in the treated areas that resolves within a few days to weeks, depending on the area(s) treated. For more information about the buttock area recovery, please see our Brazilian Butt Lift page. While you will see visible results several weeks following your procedure, your results will continue to improve over the next few months. Results are often everlasting; however, touch-up procedures are occasionally necessary.
