Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Skin Regeneration
PRP Skin Regeneration Therapy, a type of regenerative medicine with the patient’s own blood, uses components called platelets in the blood to rejuvenate the skin. Based on an innate wound-healing ability, the therapy is performed by injecting components collected from the blood. Platelets contain substances called growth factors that activate and rejuvenate cells in the body. The growth factors, when released, induce the production of collagen and generation of new capillaries to rejuvenate the skin. It also brings dormant hair back into the growth face, hence its use in reversal of hair loss.
How is PRP Regeneration Performed?
The treatment of PRP is relatively simple and can be completed within an hour. A small amount of blood is taken from the patient (30-40 ml) in a specifically prepared test tube. The doctor immediately places the blood into a centrifuge for separation, which takes approximately 8 minutes. Once the Platelet Rich Plasma is separated, it is then transferred to a syringe for injection. Since the PRP is a thin serum, it is able to be placed in a narrow needle to reduce the pain of injection. It is then injected into the areas of concern to begin the regeneration process. It can also be placed directly on the skin and worked into the skin with a process known as microneedling.
It can be administered to as many areas as desired. It is most commonly place on the scalp, face, neck, decollete, and hands.
How It Works
The aged skin has less collagen, low elasticity, a reduced amount of hyaluronic acid, and low ability to retain moisture.
Release of Growth Factors from Platelet Component [PRP]
Cell growth is activated and collagen is produced.
Regeneration & Rejuvenation of Skin Tissue
Collagen is produced and skin elasticity is improved.
The ability to retain moisture is restored.
